Super Co-contribution:

The Super Co-contribution is a helping hand from the Australian Government to assist eligible individuals to save for their retirement. If you are eligible and make personal super contributions, the Government will match your contribution up to certain limits.
You will be eligible for a Super Co-contribution in a year of income if:
  • You make a personal contribution to a complying superannuation fund.
  • Your total income (assessable income plus reportable fringe benefits) is less than $60,342 p.a.
  • 10% or more of your income is from eligible employment.
  • The maximum co-contribution entitlement is $1,000 per annum for income up to $30,342.
  • The entitlement is reduced by 5 cents for every dollar of annual income over $30,342.

An individual may also receive the co-contribution when they make a personal contribution to a superannuation fund that has no investment component but rather only offers personal insurance benefits to members (i.e. an insurance only policy).
